Olympic lifts session
Snatch
I worked up from an empty bar doing 3 reps this was our warm up which flowed into our working sets.
Empty bar 3 reps, some shoulder dislocations and some front squats as well as some dynamic stretching and a little blast on the rower.
30kg 3 reps
35kg 3 reps
40kg 3 reps
45 kg 3 reps
50 kg 3 reps
55kg 3 reps
57.5kg 3 reps
57.5kg 3 reps
It felt really good to do this movement again, I'd not snatched for over a month. I was snatching 50kg and messed it up, I got chewed up and spat out, it really knocked my confidence. I also think I could have power snatched 60kg or more but I was concentrating on dropping under the bar and using my over head squat to do the work.
Clean
Working up from 60kg to find my 1RM
60kg 2 reps
65kg 2 reps
70kg 2 reps
75kg 1 rep
80kg 1 rep
85kg 1 rep
90kg fail
I'm happy with that! A 85kg Clean, even though in my head on the way to the gym I got 100kg lol. After failing at 90 I racked the bar and did a few front squats with the 90kg, which to be fair felt ok. I know I could clean the 90kg its just getting in the right frame of mind and committing to throwing yourself under a heavy bar, this is why I love these lifts-you don't just have to be strong and have a sound technique, you need balls of steel !!
I feel I have my confidence back now and I'm looking forward to including these sessions into my training a few times a month.
