Training Log 23/02/13

Lower Body hypertrophy

This session has eluded me for some weeks, I always plan to get two upper and two lower body sessions in a week but the second lower session always gets bumped for another session a run/row/Crossfit tekkers. I always plan to do a really heavy machine based leg session ...shock horror, training legs without squatting!

Hack Squat
4x8 @ 120kg  This hit the Quads in big way, I didn't feel any stress on the knees , I quite like the exercise.

45 degree leg press

4x8 @ 200kg This was a nice exercise, I say nice, I nearly popped an eye ball on the last set. I think I could have managed a set of 220kg, maybe next time.

Leg extensions
4x8 @ pin 7

Leg Curls
4x8 @ pin 6

Seated calf raise
4x12 @ 40kg

Legs felt just as worked as when I squat but I could tell that I hadn't used my core much. I'll use this session again though, really enjoyed sitting on my ass and pushing plates about.

Don't be banging on about not squatting, you will be preaching to the converted ...but remember variety is the spice of life, and I achieved what I wanted to.


My diet has been really good this week, by good I mean I've hit my maco-nutrients.  I've struggled to hit my carbohydrate numbers a few times this week so, I turned to pop tarts and dried fruit to get me there, no biggy. I'd covered my micro-nutrient intake by lunch time on these days anyway.  


SO ... This was two weeks ago

I'd training upper body in the first picture and had a bit of a pump, I had nothing in the second picture. I know the light washes my definition out in the top picture, I was 70.2kg. I recalculated my macros and stuck to it religiously (we are in Lent after all) and I dropped to 69kg flat, I look a lot fuller and feel a lot leaner, the weight I dropped was water and body fat.

I'm a happy chappy!
